Shalikha Upazila

 Location:

Shalikha upazila is located 14 km south of Magura district town on the Magura-Jessore highway. Administrative activities of Shalikha upazila are conducted from Arpara. There are government and non-government organizations and police stations. Kaliganj Upazila to the north-west of Shalikha Upazila, Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila to the north and Magura Sadar Upazila of Magura District to the north and east, Bagharpara Upazila of Jessore District to the west and south, Mohammadpur Upazila of Magura District and Narail Sadar Upazila and Lohagarh Upazila of Narail District to the south-east.  History of naming:

 There are several popular opinions about the name 'Shalikha'. It is said that at one time a large quantity of ‘shali paddy’ was grown in this region. ‘Shali Dhan’ is now prevalent in folklore. During the reign of Sultan Sher Shah, during the construction of 'Sher Shah Road' over the region, the workers were satisfied by eating the slices of 'Shali' paddy and when the universality of Shali paddy was revealed, they named the area 'Shalikha'. Many people think that Shalikha can be named after the ‘Shalik’ bird. Again, many people think that the name Shalikha comes from the abundance of aquatic plants Shaluk in the water bodies of this region. However, considering the descriptions of historians and the ancient history of the region, two significant aspects of naming Shalikha can be specially mentioned. One is the Haimati crop ‘Shali’ rice tradition and the other is the aquatic plant called ‘Shaluk’.

Mohammadpur Upazila

Location of Mohammadpur Upazila:

 Location of Mohammadpur Upazila, 26 km east-south of Magura district headquarters. This upazila consists of 6 unions. The area of ​​the upazila is 234.29 sq km. Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur district on the north and north-west, Boalmari upazila and Alfadanga upazila on the east-south, Lohagara upazila of Narail district on the south, Shalikha upazila and Magura Sadar Sadar upazila on the west and south.

 Naming history:

 No specific name was found for naming Mohammadpur upazila. Raja Sitaram Roy (born 1657 AD) was the zamindar of the region during the reign of the Mughal emperor Jahangir. He stopped paying taxes to the emperor and declared himself an independent king. After the local Muslim fakir Mahmud, his capital was renamed Mohammadpur instead of Bagjan.

Sreepur Upazila

 Location: Sreepur Upazila is an upazila in Magura district in Bangladesh. 14 km from Magura district headquarters. Location of Sreepur upazila in the north. This upazila consists of 6 unions. The area of ​​this upazila is 179.18 sq km. Rajbari district and Baliakandi upazila to the north of Sreepur upazila; Magura Sadar Upazila in the south; Madhukhali Upazila and Baliakandi Upazila on the east and Shailkupa Upazila on the west. Not much is known about the naming of this upazila. However, it is rumored that it was an important city during the reign of the Pala king in the ninth century. At one time there was a king named Virat Raja in the Sreepur region. His real name was Raja Ram Chandra. The king's wife's name was Sridevi. This upazila is named after Sridevi.

Magura Sadar Upazila

 Location:

 Magura Sadar Upazila is an upazila in Magura district in the Khulna division of Bangladesh. Magura Sadar Upazila with an area of ​​450.5 sq km is bounded on the north by Sreepur Upazila and Shailkupa Upazila of Magura District, on the south by Shalikha Upazila, on the east by Mohammadpur Upazila and on the west by Jhenaidah District. Constituency 91 Magura-1 (Jatiya Sangsad constituency) has 13 unions and 1 municipality. Magura Thana was upgraded to an upazila in 1983. It was established as a police station in 1845. Magura Sadar Upazila consists of 1 municipality, 16 wards, 13 union parishads, 263 mouzas and 252 villages.
